xXx: State of the Union
Mike ClarkXXX: State of the Union takes The Dirty Dozen's basic premise and simply jettisons 11 assailants ??? along with Vin Diesel and all those snow drifts from 2002's XXX. What's left is a Dirty Guy played by Ice Cube.
How dirty? Well, if this were one of the actor's Barbershop movies, he'd give Oprah a Mohawk just out of spite. And this makes him just the kind of malevolent malcontent official Washington needs, according to this surprisingly pricey-looking action pic's recycled script.
We begin in pastoral Virginia horse country, where we half expect to see Sam Shepard schlepping oats. Instead, we witness the slaughter of 18 National Security Agency employees, a crime Cube is recruited to solve.

xXx: State of the Union
Kevin ThomasRevolution Studios needn't have worried that Vin Diesel would not be doing the sequel to the 2002 hit XXX, because Ice Cube proves up to the task in XXX: State of the Union. Cube has always been a natural in front of a camera, and he's as much at ease as a daring action star as he has been of late in comedies. State of the Union opens explosively and never lets up, with Lee Tamahori (Die Another Day) in full command of the action and Simon Kinberg an equally astute writer with a flair for linking socko action set pieces with terse characterization and a sure sense of topicality. The film's makers understand in the post-9/11 world that it can seem just about anything might be possible, taking full advantage of the likelihood that the faster the pace the less implausi...
Disappointing
Thinking this was a no brainer and likely to be entertaining and amusing I watched this and was bitterly disappointed.
The plot must have been concocted in the writers sleep, the comedy aspect was non-existent.
If you have a tendency to not care what you watch, then opt for this - Otherwise there are plenty of good or even average movies to choose from. I'd recommend you give this one a miss.
