Plot Summary:
|
In `60s New Zealand, at the foundation of the world, Burt Munro takes a 1920 Indian motorcycle and, delightfully without resources other than his own prepossession and a Kiwi #8 wire mentality, spends his retirement rebuilding the bike and following his delusion to advance to Sprint Week at Sea salt Lake in Utah. Under funded, without the support of a group and against all the odds he not only makes it to Bonneville, he sets a world property spend curriculum vitae, not at times, but again and again.

A must see movie
I saw this film in a small 40 seat cinema in New Zealand and the mixed age audience loved it. we were kept spellbound by the story of one mans perseverance in fulfilling his dream of taking the land speed record for under 1000cc motorcycles. Girls- don't be put off- it was a warm, funny, and inspiring story and Anthony Hopkins was excellent in the main role.
This comes out on top
The World's Fastest Indian works as art (directing, acting, photography, locatons, ...) but it's much more than that. The passion of the characters and the team that have made it are a close match for one another. Whether you know (or care) about motorcycles or not; if you're looking for another top-notch performance from Anthony Hopkins or never heard of him; whatever your motivation for watching this film, you will come away rejoicing at and revelling in it.
The best film we've watched all year (July '06). Our only regret is that we didn't get to see it at the cinema!
World's Fastest Indian, The
This is a obscure that wears a smile button on its sleeve along with its opportune heart. It believes that most people are fully wonderful, and it is well made so that a dusting of that dogged optimism is headed to rub off on you
World's Fastest Indian, The
Quite irresistible, pretty much thanks to the most cherishable show that Anthony Hopkins has foreordained in years
