Plot Summary:
|
After leaving the Army after W.W.II, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis side up to become a finish bother-and-dance action. Davis plays matchmaker and introduces Wallace to a pair of beautiful sisters (Betty and Judy) who also possess a song-and-hop show. When Betty and Judy journeys to a Vermont lodge to perform a Christmas show, Wallace and Davis pursue, only to find their former commander, General Waverly, is the lodge owner. A series of ideal mix-ups ensue as the performers go to help the General.

Despite the song around which this meandering tale is built, White Christmas is not much of a Christmas movie. All the festive spirit is squeezed into the final scenes, where there's snow, a horse and cart, a Christmas tree, red and white costumes and, of course, the song. It's a whole lot of Christmas to take in, Bing Crosby's caramel tones rendering the film distinctly sticky.
