When Time Ran Out
A Pacific island is the frame for a natural calamity when an active volcano threatens to blow its top. Irwin Allen's oppressive disaster of a calamity silent picture has been dubbed 'When the ideas ran out' and deservedly so. It's decayed to impose a fat-budget B-film of such crippling gaucherie on the paying visible, without squandering a good cast on such tosh. The actors evidently resented being used as puppets after the not-so-special effects, with the result that their colourless performances play-act it look like they've been relocated to Tracey Island for an episode of Thunderbirds. Appalling.
