Wee Willie Winkie
Passable Temple conveyance - if you like that sort of thing - based on a Rudyard Kipling narrative, in which a widow (Lang) and her daughter (the little curly-headed joined) invite sanctuary in British India with a sour, child-phobic relation (McLaglen), a colonel posted in a charged boundary district. Soon, of course, the military man is caving in eye la Church's unfailing rape of cuteness. But the natives are a speck more excitable than wonted. Ford's dusting is an efficient prima donna conveyance with a stronger element of suspense than, say, Curly Top (1934), and marks the beginning of Holy place's bedevilled shift towards more substantial material.
