Plot Summary:

"Watchmen" is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are corner of the fabric of daily association, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When whole of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to eliminate and discredit all past and present superheroes. Over the course of two decades, several celebrated directors were involved with some version of the movie, from Terry Gilliam to Darren Aronofsky to Paul Greengrass. As the film bounced from one studio to another, a host of actors, including Tom Cruise and Jude Law, expressed interest in roles.
