Plot Summary:
|
Sort of a irate between "Admiration Story" and an earthy Rembrandt painting, this movie stars Rutger Hauer as a top-drawer Dutch sculptor who has a turbulent, erotic, and heroine-crossed romance with a beautiful young fianc‚e. The story follows the arc of their relationship and his interaction with her family. Told in flashback form, initially Hauer is seen as a lubricious lothario accumulator, taking trophies from his sexual conquests and pasting them in a book. He sees a statuette he made of his lost lover and goes into a flashback of his relationship with his mate. He meets the wench, fa... lls in love with/marries her, and we assemble her parents: a charming, luxuriously connotation, bumbling father, and his hell-cat of a wife, who's convinced Hauer's too much of a bohemian to cause a commodities mate for her daughter. Eventually, the no big deal jealousies, the sex hijinks, and the climactic throw up scene prove too much for the amalgamation, and sculptor and his lady indifferent separate. Flash bold several months, and Hauer finds the twist retire from in Holland after an American sojourn. Their reunion is short lived; the less melodramatic ending mirrors "Love Story".
