Tremors
Monster worms from beneath the earth threaten the existence of an isolated town in Hicksville, USA. Shucks, ain't it always the way? Well, yes - according to Underwood's gleeful salute to those 1950s movies in which atomic insects (or annelids, I suppose, in this case) go rampaging through Nevada for no adequately explored reason. The cast of characters subtly satirizes such creaky old sources: Bacon and Ward are two bickering lickspittles forced to do battle with the beasts from below; Carter is the seismologist irritated by constant exhortations to explain and interpret the events of the plot. Cute, irresistible, undemanding fun.
