Plot Summary:
|
In a city where streets are overrun during antidepressant dealers, those who have sworn to preserve the law are breaking them to clean up the streets. Denzel Washington plays L.A.P.D detective Alonzo Harris, a narcotics G-man whose methods of enforcing the law are unreliable, if not corrupt. 'Training Day' follows Harris as he trains rookie Jake Hoyt done with a period 24 hours. Ethical dilemmas be mentioned representing Hoyt as extravagantly as the audience as questions present themselves as to whether or not Harris' methodology for ridding the streets of South Chief Los Angeles of drugs is... title or iniquitous.

Training Day
Excellent film, full of excitement and action . Held my firm attention to the end.
First-rate cop thriller
Superior buddy cop thriller that I was suprised to learn didn't get nominated for Best Picture in 2001. A cop spends his first day in the narcotics division with his boss and the film goes off on an absurb but enthralling tangent as the cop gets some exposure to basic 'street' activities. Great acting performances, good direction and a great script combined to give an authentic feel to the environment and believability in the characters on screen. At times the film ploughs through moral areas that have been done before but there was just something about the film and characters that sucked me in and although it does cliche off a bit at the end, I thought this was the best cop thriller that I've seen since LA Confidential.
