Plot Summary:
|
Thomas Callahan Jr. is kind of a dumb caricature. His papa gets married to woman who is actually frustrating to get him for his money by taking over his stocks and then put his decelerate pad crowd out of business. When Big Tom dies of a unwonted stroke, it seems pretty good for Beverly and tommy's "brother". but Tommy and his buddy Richard are succeeding to mounting out and restrict Calahan auto parts in company. I partake of said too much.

Tommy Boy
Inane and tasteless comedy of obesity and incompetence, starring the former Saturday Night Live comedian Farley as a near-imbecilic student who inherits the family business, and is forced to safeguard it from the machinations of his stepmother (Derek, cast for a laugh, presumably). In his short life, Farley never really got the chance to show whether the latent savagery and psychotic weirdness of his no-brain act could have been turned to good dramatic effect. If he'd lived long enough to be cast in a Harmony Korine flick then a love scene with Chloe Sevigny, say, might have brought his talent into focus. Here, it's invisible.
Like 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' - only funnier!
Similar to the John Candy / Steve Martin film 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' this is about a nerdy straight man and a funny 'big' bloke on the road, who start off as enemies but end up as best friends - awwwww! It's much better than the aformentioned film, and it's a shame that Chris Farley is no longer with us - he's absolutely hilarious in this.
