Plot Summary:
|
In Los Angeles, the secret agent Richard Chance loses his partaker and angel Jim Hart in an probe of counterfeit, two days earlier the retirement of Jim. The vehicle John Vukovich is assigned to develop with Chance, who is obsessed to capture Eric 'Rick' Masters, the criminal responsible as a service to the extinction of Jim. A bitter-sleek attack on American politics. Caustic, stylish and fast-paced entertainment from the director of The Exorcist
Although horribly undervalued at the time of its cinema release, this is one of the few post-Exorcist movies by director Friedkin that is actually worth watching.
The film is not only a cracking thriller in its own right, but also a subtle satire of Reaganomics and the self-justifying amorality that led to the Contragate scandal.
Petersen and Pankow play a couple of dedicated cops who, unable to get official funding to launch a sting operation against muderous counterfeiter Dafoe, decide to plan a robbery to acquire the wherewithal to go it alone.
