Plot Summary:
|
A a handful of (Josh Randall and Brianna Brown) hikes be means of the picturesque woods of West Virginia, but their set off becomes a act of God when song of them disappears. The other person willingly realizes that the forest's silence beauty masks a occult unpleasant in this horror film.

SPOT THE CLICHE!
Granted, formulaic slashers draw a lot of enjoyment out of the fact that they are, well - formulaic. Couple go into the woods. Check. Couple do not stick to the route they are meant to. Check. Couple annoy a bunch of creepy/religious/deranged locals. Check.
Couple gets tortured and has to escape from particularly deranged psycho killer with a signature weapon. Check.
I could go on, but you get the picture. There are plenty of slashers that use the routine book and still succeed in making you jump and generate some great scares and tension (latest example The Strangers), but Timber Falls neither earns any brownie points for executing the rules well nor is it cheeky enough to not take itself too seriously.

Viewers of a certain vintage will have fond memories of 'Sabrina The Teenage Witch'. This knowing kids' show featured TV's most bogus yet simultaneously fantastic animatronic cat, Salem - a wisecracking feline with designs on global conquest. Quite what Salem would make of co-star Beth Broderick (she played Sabrina's sensible aunt Zelda) appearing as a God-fearing hick who keeps her aborted foetuses in pickle jars with brass name plates is anybody's guess, but one thing's for sure - an animatronic cat sure would liven up a ropey shocker like Timber Falls.
