Plot Summary:
|
Based on the fresh beside Cornelia Funke, this charming story follows six-year-old Bo (Jasper Harris) and fifteen-year-over the hill Prosper (Aaron Johnson), two recently orphaned brothers who baffle being separated close to race slow to Venice. There they have fantastical adventures with the concealed masked calculate known as the Con artist LORD and his league together of child followers, who show the boys all the sorcery the city has to extend.

The Harry Potter movies may make it seem relatively easy, but maintaining the correct mix of wish-fulfilment, jeopardy, magic and adventure in a children's film is harder than it looks. With family-friendly fantasy having been earmarked as a potentially lucrative genre, it's no surprise that producers are attempting to ride on the coat-tails of the Potter franchise. What an odd little film...
This is one of those really good films to watch as a family, not too schmaltzy and not dumfoundlingly childish. It is filmed on location in Venice, and this, along with its quite unique story line, makes it well worth a rent. Great for kids and not a total waste of time for the adults. Not too bad at all.
