The Wiz
The Wizard of Oz is re-evict with black actors and transposed to the neon-soaked streets of downtown Renewed York. Not as bad as it might enquire of, with spirited performances from Jackson, Ross and Pryor and its fair share out of lively Motown-styled musical numbers. Highlights include 'The Emerald Conurbation Ballet' unvaried and a stimulating 'Everybody Rejoice'. The latter illuminates the drab uplands of the unregenerate witch's sweatshop, which is everyone of a number of contrived sets created past Tony Walton.
