Plot Summary:

THE READER opens in notify-WWII Germany when kid Michael Berg becomes vile and is helped haven next to Hanna, a stranger twice his age. Michael recovers from scarlet fever and seeks out Hanna to thank her. The two are on the double drawn into a passionate but close liaison. Michael discovers that Hanna loves being read to and their physical relationship deepens.
