Plot Summary:
|
Robert and Katherine Thorn have all the hallmarks to bear it all. They are happily married and he is the US Minister to Italy, but they demand more than to have children. When Katharine has a stillborn child, Robert is approached sooner than a priest at the clinic who suggests that they capture a tonic newborn whose progenitrix has upright died in childbirth. Without considerable his mate he agrees. After relocating to London, strange events - and the foretokening warnings of a father - lead him to allow that the juvenile he took from that Italian hospital is vile incarnate.
