THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES recasts description in 19th Century France. Based on the novel by Simon Leys, The Death of Napoleon, the videotape supposes that Napoleon Bonaparte escaped from bar in St. Helena and returned to Paris in 1821, whereas the chronicle books power he died that year. With imaginative photography, bonny costumes, an optimistic orchestral register, and solid acting, the film is a bizarre, ludicrous, comedic delight. Starting unfashionable in St. Helena, Napoleon (Ian Holm) enjoys a pampered ens, even as a prisoner, and is treated with great by those who of advantage to hi... m. Wherefore, when he devises a scheme to trade places with a sommelier des vins on a haul so that he may avoid, the deckhand he chooses (also Holm) thinks he's the luckiest man alive, waited on indicator and foot in St. Helena. Napoleon returns to Paris subsumed under the air of this freight waitress. When he arrives, he expects to be recognised, received with exhilaration aside his people, and made emperor years again. Instead, he is ignored. Days later, the deckhand in St. Helena dies, literally erasing Napoleon's living. From there, Napoleon requisite adjust to everyday life in the let off world as nothing more than a simple Everyman. Fortunately, he finds a loving wife, Pumpkin (Iben Hjejle), to help him with the transition.
