Plot Summary:
|
The popular 70s TV show makes a graceful transition to the big strainer in this light-hearted high point that's part tease and part obeisance. The plot here (about a ruthless land developer who wants to buy the Brady expert in) is second-hand to the roguish juxtaposition of the Brady's era with our own. The film dotes on the peculiarities of 70s fashion and vernacular with an not quite religious fervor. The kids seem as extinct in their astray-collared, pastel shirts as they do in their anachronistic moral universe. Marcia, for exemplification, is distant to the end up-ons from a lesbian fri... end and she haughtily informs a date that she doesn't rabbit on g rely to "third despicable." Discrete members of the individualist thrust make cameo appearances.

The Brady Bunch Movie
"...Not solely does the recent cast look uncannily like the unprecedented Bunch, the set acting is uniformly right as approvingly..."
The Brady Bunch Movie
In the 1990s, Hollywood studios desperately ransacked their beloved TV archives for cinema remake material, with very interbred results. This is probably the most innovative of the piles, even if it doesn't usually slave away. Conducive to those who missed them first time around, the Brady Nosegay were a cute-as-pie 1970s American family who suffered the mildest of domestic discordance every week. For this large screen the same applies — except that everyone else is now living in the 1990s. The result is a postmodernist hoot, expertly served up by a turn headed by Shelley Protracted and Gary Cole, and essential viewing for fans of flares everywhere.
The Brady Bunch Movie
"...A clever, delightful accommodation....Thomas has a wonderful delegate of na‹ve performers....Best of all is Cole -- he makes Mike Brady his own..."
