Plot Summary:
|
In the not-too-far tomorrow, some 30 years after the final battle, a separate man walks across the wasteland that was once America. There is no culture here, no law. The roads possession of to gangs that would liquidate a man for his shoes, an ounce of D -- or in support of nothing at all. A warrior not about choice but difficulties, Eli seeks only peace but, if challenged, compel cut his attackers down before they realize their foreordained mistake. It's not his life he guards so savagely but his hope for the tomorrow; a count he has carried and protected representing 30 years and is determin... ed to realize. Driven aside this commitment and guided by means of his dogma in something greater than himself, Eli does what he be obliged to survive--and go on. Only one other mortals in this ruined world understands the power Eli holds, he and is persistent to make it his own: Carnegie, the self-appointed oppressor of a stopgap town of thieves and gunmen. Meanwhile, Carnegie's adopted daughter Solara is fascinated by Eli fitting for another think rationally: the glimpse he offers of what may exist beyond her stepfather's territory. But, neither will find it easy to deter him. Eli have to control moving to fulfill his fortune and bring help to a ravaged human race.
