The Black Stallion Returns
Having edited Carroll Ballard's autochthonous veil, Robert Dalva made his directorial launching with this substandard sequel, which is short on both day-dream and charm. Although the action is handsomely photographed aside Carlo Di Palma and Caleb Deschanel, too few risks are charmed with the storyline, which again sees Kelly Reno and his superb horse (Cass-ole) at a loss for words all bearing of trials to reunite in time as a replacement for a telling line. Reno underplays admirably, but there's a disturbing amount of stereotyping (expressly on the party of Allen Garfield) in how the Arabs who lift the stallion and smuggle it away to the Sahara are depicted.
