Plot Summary:
|
Guide Jack Hill (COFFY, SPIDER Pamper) launched both a rotation of women-in-oubliette films and the stardom of Pam Grier with this smutty, peculiar, arousing exploitation classic. At a prison farm in the Philippines, new girl Collier (Judy Brown) is locked up with harsh lesbian Grear (Grier), insurgent bit of skirt Bodine (Readily Woodell), tough blonde Alcott (Roberta Collins), and Harad (Brooke Mills), a strung-out junkie. The girls race cockroaches, fight in the mire, shower, and get it on while the sadistic crest stand watch over (Kathryn Loder) conducts nightly torture sessions quest of ... the pleasure of the abstruse Colonel Mendoza. Ultimately the girls escape, and all torture breaks give out with as they race to join the rebels, their gadget guns blazing a path entirely the jungles. Hill keeps a nice pro-feminist stand in this boob facetiously-in-cheek picture, with strong characters and clever talk nicely counterbalancing the more perverse elements. All the women are sexy and worthy, peculiarly Grier in her earliest major task. She flush with sings the warm dub song, "Longtime Woman." This cover was a huge star, spawning sundry imitations. Grower Roger Corman had Hill and Grier follow it up with an reflex sequel, THE Boastfully BIRD Pound.

The Big Doll House
An cock's-crow example of the women-in-detention centre prototype, a seventies genre that was by regarded as too hot championing the UK. In this , the extremely popular Pam Grier and four other tough ladies as a rule do what is expected of them (fight, include showers, endeavour to escape and so on). Roger Corman protégé Jack Hill shot it cheaply in the Philippines, the location for many exploitation films of the period. Unwatchable trash or a cult noteworthy, depending on your attitude.
