Director/Fabricator Stephen Woolley's STONED is a histrionic attempt--researched to 10 years--to accurately portray the controversial events surrounding the death on July 2nd, 1969 of Rolling Stones founding associate and guitarist Brian Jones at lifetime 27. To create his put together, Woolley synthesized the written memoirs and testimonials of the witnesses who were there. Start a few months formerly his passing, the blear focuses on a relationship Brian Jones (Leo Gregory) forged with Frank Thorogood (Wax Constantine), a builder hired to fix up the rock personage's place. Toute seule--sav... e benefit of his girlfriend Anna--and ostracized from his band-mates proper to cure problems and forensic tangles, Jones draws Thorogood in as a duty-many times fellow and part-forthwith subsidiary. To capture the impulse temper of the times, Woolley fills his soundtrack with 1960s nuggets, including exclude covers of Stones real through modern British acts A Band of Bees and Hardly Barrie. He also shoots the flashbacks and recreated concert footage with a hand-held 16mm camera, achieving a real-memoirs documentary feel.

The simulacrum of Brian Jones floating daring down in his own swimming purse has long epitomised daze 'n roll excess, a moral warning that goes down with a chatter of schaudenfraude. Jones' demise closely matched prevalent myths - the descending arc of Icarus, expressed in a child style in the English inconvenience with anyone who soars above their allotted station - and perhaps this is why the the coppers did not investigate the content too closely. If we are to believe Stephen Woolley's Stoned, Brian Jones was not a victim of his own excess. He was murdered close a builder in the culmination of a piggish, exploitative homoerotic relationship.
