Rent the original instead
Crass and unsubtle remake of the 75 classic with a ridiculous ending. Borrow the original it is better acted, better scripted and better directed. The original will still be remembered in 25 years time - this will quickly be consigned to the bad film dustbin.
lighthearted and enjoyable...
Not having seen the original I had no pre-conceptions about this remake of Stepford Wives. Usually I'm a bit wary of films, especially comedy films that pack in so many movie stars. I often feel as if they do this to cover up a weak story line or plot. This wasn?t the case whatsoever with SW, Kidman was exceptional in this role as was the amazing Bette Midler, whom I've had a soft spot for since I was young. If you?re looking for something intellectual and thought provoking, this isn?t for you. Stepford Wives is a lighthearted comedy, that doesn?t take it's self too seriously, and I found myself laughing quite often. Also check out the deleted scenes, there is a hysterical cut of Bette Midler.
Stepford Wives, The
A remake that has only its ownership in overused with the original movie, substituting broad and rarely funny comedy exchange for the paranoia that fuelled the information the initial immediately around.
Stepford Wives, The
The bulky problem with The Stepford Wives is right there in the opening titles. An beginning montage of 1950s homemaking kitsch immediately begs the query: what the hell are the filmmakers doing? With all the ideals of womanhood in in American refinement more praiseworthy of a satirical skewering, from soccer moms to the fallen idol of Martha Stewart, the filmmakers disinter a sustained-thoroughly stereotype and send it prancing surrounding the paddock for laughs. In a jiffy the film starts, it gets worse. Maverick TV network president Joanna Eberhart (Kidman) is launching her new slate of programmes. They are the amicable of 'wouldn't it be funny if' actuality TV parodies that play intimately when writers are spitballing over coffee but, most media mockery,...
