Spider-Man 3
Todd McCarthyThe three main recurring characters get stuck in a rut and the same can be said of the film itself in Spider-Man 3. After the significant improvement of the second installment over the first, new entry reps a roughly equivalent dip in quality and enjoyment, with Spidey now giving off the faint odor of running on fumes. This devaluation shouldn't hurt at the box office, at least at first, as the vast majority of the fans who turned the first two into $822 million and $784 million worldwide grossers, respectively, will cram multiplexes around the globe to see the first blockbuster of the summer.
A sense of strain envelops the proceedings this time around. One can feel the effort required to suit up one more time, come up with fresh variations on a winning f...
Not so amazing now!
Was a big fan of the first two films and therefore made sure I saw spidey 3 on release day 4/5/07.
Okay the film is a typical summer movie, big set action pieces and the hero having to come through a sticky patch.
Personally thought the webslinging through the city scapes was to fast to appreciate and felt like asking for a slow mo.
Cast spot on as ever franco delivering a very good turn, disappointed by sand man as he didn't seem to have much to play with in terms of script.
a few real dody things that had people around me gasping, Tobey Macguire dancing in the bar and the worst actress in history the english news reporter at the final battle.
too many villains for my liking would have preferred perhaps just venom and saved sandamn and the new golbin...
Spider-Man 3
Claudia PuigSpider-Man 3 (* * * out of four) has a large web to fill: It's tough to follow a blockbuster as superb as Spider-Man 2. The third adventure of the guy with arachnid superpowers tries gamely, is solidly entertaining and possesses dazzling special effects, but it falls short of the near-perfection of the Spidey sequel. It's an action-packed tale with the emotional heft and humor we've come to expect from the series. The first two-thirds of the film grabs and keeps our attention, moving at just the right pace. But ultimately it's about 15 minutes too long with an overblown climax. Tobey Maguire is in fine form as the engagingly sweet and nerdy Peter Parker. Fans will get an extra shot of the actor's range as he has a chance to stretch h...
