This DVD has the original intro by David Bowie as an extra; unseen since the mid 1980's, which is good because the new intro is rather naff!

Has it really been 23 years since this first hit our television screens?
I remember loving this as a child of 9 and now love watching this with my 2 year old.
It's perfect Christmas viewing and tells the tale of a James, who awakes one morning to find it has snowed. At midnight that night magic brings the snowman alive. Now follows an adventure that will delight you and your children time and again (I should know, I've 'had' to watch this over and over to please my boy!).
A lovely Christmas tale for children young and old (and 33 year olds) who believe in magic.

What more can be said with respect to The Snowman, the film formerly described by way of a peerless revivalist as "the cartoon about the power that dies"? Perhaps the one utensils worth clearing up is that, opposite to popular belief, the spit's sole mellifluous tons - 'Walking In The Air' - isn't sung next to Aled Jones. In days gone by the land's pet choirboy, 'Songs Of Praise' host Jones performed the version of the number worn in a Toys R Us TV advert. The track as featured in Dianne Jackson's cherishable short is sung by Peter Auty, boy soprano-turned-grown-up opera star.
