Allie finds platonic abundance in her neighbor Graham Knox, an aspiring actor with a sensitive shoulder to lean on. Realizing that the just way to hold on to her apartment is to find a r... oommate, Allie places an ad and interviews a succession of unsuitable candidates before settling on the shy Hedra "Hedy" Carlson, the ideal roomie in Allie's eyes. Hedy fast fills the void red in Allie's life during Sam's departure. Allie is only too exuberant to concede Hedy to cook and undefiled for her. Their conviviality deepens when Hedy brings home an adorable and -- unknown to Allie -- surely expensive puppy. Unknown to Allie, Hedy erases Sam's phone messages when he calls to plead for a reconciliation. Before big, she's even begun dressing the same break down Allie does. Single White Female
A young New Yorker, Albie, on the (temporary) rebound from her boyfriend, advertizes for a flat-mate and gets Hedra, who doesn't just invade her space but takes over Albie's looks, her friends - you name it, the psychotic woman wants and needs it. The problem with this notion is that we need to believe in both situation and characters. But Hedra's murderous insanity is so glibly explained (she blames herself for her twin sister's death) that she becomes irritating rather than pathetic. The climax is a long time coming, and you can't help feeling that the adaptation would work better as a play.
YOU GOTTA RENT THIS ONE!
This film had me hooked from start to finish. A really good story throughout about a very disturbed woman who moves into a house with a newly SWF (Single White Female) She seems the ideal flatmate until she starts to change.
Both parts played terrifically well. You definatley will not be able to predict what's coming up next. ENJOY! I know you will...
