Simpsons Movie, The
Brian LowryAfter 18 years and 400 episodes, The Simpsons has developed a wide array of potential moviegoers, from those who still watch to those who once watched to those who don???t watch anymore but now have kids that do. The question is how many will feel inspired to ante up for something so readily available for the price of enduring commercials and Fox???s incessant on-air promotion. Happily, the long-gestating movie itself offers a fine incentive, and Fox???s inspired marketing campaign (7-Eleven becoming Kwik-E-Mart? Genius) should ensure enough curiosity to stuff the studio???s pockets, as it were, with dollars from doughnuts.
Put simply, if somebody had to make a Simpsons movie, this is pretty much what it should be -- clever, irreverent, satirical and o...
Worth the wait?
Being a fan of the Simpsons for most of my life, I was trying not to get to excited about the film (for fear of being let down.) On first viewing in the cinema I was crushed. I waited for the big laughs. And waited... and waited... and then it was over.
On second viewing at home I quite enjoyed it as a film, it works quite well. It's just not funny, or not funny enough considering it's the Simpsons! The show packs in as many jokes as possible because it only has 20 minutes to work with, the film is 4 times as long as that. You are not bombarded with jokes, it is more about characters and flashy effects.
A let down, but not as bad as it could have been!

'The Simpsons' has been a great TV show for over 10 years. Unfortunately, the jewel in Fox's tarnished crown has been on telly for almost two decades. Sure, the odd episode stills manages to dazzle, but it's been a while since Springfield's favourite family guaranteed consistent entertainment. And as for talk that the show has jumped the shark, many would argue that it's long since cleared the aquarium.
With the TV programme no longer required viewing, some have pondered the wisdom of a Simpsons feature fil...
