Plot Summary:
|
A scientist living in an apartment complex kills a girl and uses acid to neutralize her internal organs, and then kills himself. While investigating, a doctor discovers that the scientist was doing experiments on the use of genetically engineered parasites as organ transplants. Tout de suite, other people in the complex begin showing signs of carrying the parasites, spreading the things through vamp orgiastic over, and the complex begins suffering an attrition problem.

This is a sordid-budget nasty (also known as The Parasite Murders and They Came From Within) from a juvenile David Cronenberg. The then censor passed Shivers without cuts, conceivably reading it as an attack on the let society. If you strip away the muddled attempts to ladle collective commentary on lop of the poke, it is really a superior horror flick. The plot centres on a group of 20-somethings living in a strange luxury apartment building.
