Plot Summary:
|
Heinrich Harrer is an Austrian mountaineer who is calculated to be a exemplar for the Nazi disinformation. He leaves Austria in 1939 to climb a mountain in the Himalayas. Through a series of circumstances (including POW party), he and fellow climber Peter Aufschnaiter change the sole two foreigners in the Tibetan Holy City of Lhasa. There, Heinrich's life changes forever as he becomes a close confidant to the Dalai Lama.

technical treat
Breathtaking photography, exotic location ( though the other reviewers vouch that it is anything but Tibet ), slow paced story, some real and earthy characters, a glimpse of one of the oldest and purest culture, some fine performances -
But these doesnt necessarily add up to a great movie.
Tom Cruise had a better tryst with the eastern civilisation in the last samurai.
Better luck next time, Brad Pitt.
Seven Years in Tibet
Despite hearing bad reviews of this film I found it to be a moving film looking at the Tibetan takeover by China.
