Rocky II
The "Italian Stallion" saddles up for a second bout with world champ Apollo Creed in this entertaining if predictable sequel.
Back for round two, Rocky Balboa (Stallone), having survived his bout with Apollo Creed - aka The Count Of Monte Fisto - finds himself a tad disadvantaged by a dodgy eye in this Stallone-directed sequel. Shire is luminous as his long-suffering wife, who changes her mind about Rocky's comeback (despite the risk to life and eye) and cheers him on. The fights are choreographed neatly, and there's still something to be said for that moment when Stallone does the now famous training run up those famous steps. Infinitely superior to the other sequels.
Verdict
It's entertaining enough, but Stallone would have done well to retire...
