Atmospheric and Beautiful
Full of gorgeous cinematography of Novia Scotia in winter, this film really delivers. It's slightly spooky, involving and excellently acted from leads and minor characters. An excellent evening's entertainment.
Disappointing if you know the book.
Having thought the book by Alice Hoffman was a good read, I looked forward to watching this film. Unfortunately although an attempt was made to capture the atmosphere of the book, Edward Burns lacked the charisma required for the central character. His relationship with the teacher was unconvincing, and too quickly dealt with.
