Red Eye
Kevin ThomasWhen a movie places its two lead characters aboard a plane, it's normal to expect that a hijacking, a bombing or a natural disaster will ensue. But Red Eye, a fine psychological thriller with plenty of action, is cleverer than that. Writer Carl Ellsworth has come up with a sly plot and smart characterizations ??? a perfect blueprint for an old pro like Wes Craven. Red Eye is the work of a filmmaker in command of the full resources of the camera in telling a story visually and with economy.
After some initial hassles and delays, Rachel McAdams' Lisa Reisert, manager of a Miami Beach luxury hotel, boards a plane in Dallas for Miami. A pleasant young man (Cillian Murphy), who displays a sense of humor about his name, Jack Rippner, has been solicitous during ...
Red Eye
On a late-night flight, passenger Rachel McAdams finds herself under threat from devious psychopath Cillian Murphy. Suspense thriller directed by Wes Craven
Short, sharp and to-the-point, Red Eye is a massive improvement on director Wes Craven's previous film, the messy Werewolf thriller Cursed. The story may break little new ground and suffers from a number of ludicrous moments, but efficient direction and engaging performances hold it together as an undemanding piece of entertainment.
The plot follows Lisa Reisert (McAdams), a confidant and assured hotel desk manager who's heading home to Miami on an overnight flight. Delayed at Dallas, she finds herself striking up a conversation with charming fellow passenger Jackson Rippner (Murphy), and e...
Red Eye
Claudia PuigIt's hard to imagine that Red Eye, in which a passenger is terrorized by her seatmate, will end up as the in-flight movie any time soon. But frequent fliers who catch this suspense thriller will be impressed by how well it captures the tedium of airport delays and the protracted, exhausting ordeal that air travel has become.
The psychological horror elements might seem a bit far-fetched, but they're fun to watch because of the strong performances of Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy and the claustrophobic manner in which classic horror film director Wes Craven has shot the film.
McAdams is Lisa, an efficient hotel manager who travels regularly for work but hates to fly. Before boarding a late-night flight to Miami, she makes the acquaintance of J...
