Plot Summary:
|
The Munros are a typically American dysfunctional kind, complete with refractory, uncommunicative offspring and baffled parents. Patriarch Bob (Robin Williams) would to remedy the locale in front his son and daughter instant-intelligence their parents inaccurate of their lives. Bob rents a motor old folks' to pocket the clan on vacation but soon finds that camping and togetherness can be uncertain to one's health.

Kevin CrustThat noxious odor emitting from the comedy RV as it barrels down the highway on its way to home video is desperation. A barely concealed rip-off of National Lampoon's Vacation, this Barry Sonnenfeld-directed, Robin Williams-starring misfire spits out one failed gag after another as it tries to disguise its lack of originality.
The movie opens with Williams' Bob Munro amusing his young daughter, Cassie, with a sock puppet called the "tickle monster." Williams breaks into a familiar Sylvester Stallone impersonation delighting the girl but sending a clear distress signal to the audience. Cassie then tells her father that she never wants to get married because she always wants to live with him.

RV is a rabbit
This movie is about a man who takes his family on a road trip in an RV with funny problems along the way. How many of these type movies need to be made? Robin Williams plays his part well and some of the scenes are very funny, but if you have seen one road movie, you feel like you have seen them all. Family morals at the end of this one. An average movie.

Justin ChangBringing new meaning -- if not new heights of hilarity -- to the concept of a Robin Williams vehicle, Sony/Columbia's RV works up an ingratiating sweetness that partially compensates for its blunt predictability and meager laughs. With Williams relatively subdued as a father trying to keep spirits high during the worst family vacation ever, this Barry Sonnenfeld-directed road-trip romp looks more like a station wagon than a Winnebago, B.O.-wise, though the actor's lengthy absence from the comic mainstream should ensure a solid opening.
