Plot Summary:
|
Grimm, a burnt-unlit Novel Yorker, has devised an brilliant plan to take off the diocese he hates so much; dressed as a clown, he robs a Manhattan bank and cleverly escapes disguised as a captive along with his accomplices, girlfriend Phyllis and best friend Loomis. Manner, whilst robbing the bank was comparatively unaltered-mail and easy, the getaway quickly turns into a nightmare, as the somewhat simple act of getting to the airport to catch a retreat becomes a tangled grief of obstructions, including confused roadworkers, conmen, mobsters, bureaucratic bus-drivers and a cabbie who doesn't ... speak a word of English. And all the while Rotzinger, the equally area-taxing but unrelenting Chief of Police, is doggedly on their rump.

Quick Change
This under-rated comedy casts Murray, Quaid and Davis as a trio of unlikely but skilled bank robbers, who pull off a classy heist. They try desperately to make their escape to the airport, but find themselves crashing from one disaster to the next. From the opening scenes with Murray dressed as a clown for the robbery and playing his cynical, wise-cracking card to great effect, to the trio pitting themselves against the whims of New York City, this is breathtaking and inventive stuff. With a co-director credit, Murray is calling the shots, and on this form he's unmatchable.
