Plot Summary:

A battle of the bands in the Minneapolis scene of the mid-1980s that springs out of the many personalities, musical styles and fantasies of Prince
As rock movies go, Purple Rain has dated extremely well. For a start, the music remains stunning, a deliberate hybrid of crunching funk and rock riffs topped off with one of the finest lighters-aloft anthems of all time, 'Purple Rain'. The opening sequence, cut to an extended version of 'Let's Go Crazy', sees aspiring singer Apollonia (Kotero) arrive in Minneapolis in search of work. Drawn to the First Avenue club, she arrives just in time to see The Kid (Prince) rip-up a squall on the guitar. Love at first sight. The rival for her affections and the audience, Morris (Day) is up next with his sharp zoot-suited funk ...
Great Prince film!
There's not much plot to this film, but it's worth watching just to see the Prince performances and the cool clothes! If you're a Prince fan, and you haven't seen this then definatley give it a go.
