Plot Summary:

In this strange threatening comedy, Eric, a modest mannered man, takes his chain and his children on what he believes whim be a ultimate happy fair before his kids have as a remainder the lair. If in 1980 you were a Camus-reading hipster prone to imagining yourself in a movie, then it was Jim Jarmusch who made that film, and Permanent Vacation was what it was called. The first film by a director who would pursue - a little too assiduously, some would come to feel - the holy grail of cool, Jarmusch's debut delivers its own modest manifesto in the opening 10 minutes.
