The best!
This is one of the best films I've ever seen, fantastic performances by fledgeling actors now Hollywood stars! Super cute Cherry! And 'Stay Gold' has to be one of the best ever songs from a film!
It doesn't get any better
In the 80's you had the brat pack. It was a good time. In the 80's you had the outsiders. A film made before the egos of the stars. Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, C Thomas Howell, Ralph Machio, Matt Dillon...
England had Quadrophenia, america had the outsiders. Riding a moped never looked so bad.
This is just a great film, and the saying they don't make them like this anymore is for films as great as this.

Outsiders, The
As Johnny (Macchio) huddles against his comrade Ponyboy (Howell), he speaks of a world without nuisance - somewhere to the elusive rainbow. They are 'greasers' at odds with the 'socs'. He has merely a brutal home to moulder to, Ponyboy has loving brothers. When they run away after a confrontation and hide in a church, Dallas (Dillon) helps them - but to be gunned down, bringing the gang flow to some conclusion. Coppola's dream interpretation of S E Hinton's celebrated novelette is cast with the stars of tomorrow and takes us to the other side of that rainbow, while its manual piece Rumble Fish stays on the sorrowful side of the moon.
