Plot Summary:
|
A girlish opera chorus-member (Betty) gets her big chance when the whilom star of a production of Verdi's Macbeth is run over near a auto. Convinced the opera is grotty luck she accepts, and becomes the target (in Argento's unmistakable flair) of a psychopath - a mortals she has been dreaming of since babyhood.

The overlord of vivid Italian hatred presents a insane mix of Verdi, violence and inventive visuals. Far more successful than 1998's similarly themed Phantom Of The Opera, it's accurately described by Argento as his most ferocious movie and proof, for several cast members at least, that sometimes it's over long before the fat lady sings.
