Ocean's Thirteen
Kenneth TuranOcean???s Thirteen shows that while you can counterfeit many things in Hollywood, you can't fake inspiration. The latest Steven Soderbergh-directed caper movie starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt is better than the fiasco that was Ocean???s Twelve (how could it not be?) but not as engaging as "Ocean's Eleven." One of the film's characters sums it up best: "It's not a great idea, but it's an idea."
Even though it was itself a remake of the 1960 film that starred Frank Sinatra and his celebrated pals, Soderbergh's Ocean???s Eleven was inspired in its own way, a lively, effervescent film that brought a little pleasure into a lot of lives.
Ocean's Thirteen, by contrast, is no more than a reasonable facsimile of that film, the best copy money can b...
Lucky for us there's a 13.. ...
Though the high tide for Oceans was probably the first encounter , Oceans 12 was perfectly good, and this is no exception.
It is a slick, cool movie peppered with neat characters and another 'rip-off the big boys' plot that has you playing along on the wrong side for perhaps the right reasons.
Long at 2 hours, but definately worth the gamble, recommended.
Ocean's Thirteen
Todd McCarthyAs smooth as a good mojito, as stylish as an Armani suit and as meaningful in the grand scheme of things as yesterday's Las Vegas betting odds, Ocean's Thirteen continues the breezy good times of the first two series entries without missing a beat. By returning the action to Vegas, producer Jerry Weintraub and director Steven Soderbergh recapture the feel of the 2001 original after the 2004 European detour that bugged some fans. With George, Brad, Matt and the rest pulling another ultra-cool con without breaking a sweat, and with Al Pacino ideal as their new nemesis, Warner Bros. can bet on cashing in for yet another franchise payday.
Script by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who penned the sharp gambling-world drama Rounders, puts all its dramatic chips...
Ocean's Thirteen
George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon try to interject the bank in this three-quel
If Ocean's Eleven was a slick heist, superbly executed during a master director, Ocean's Twelve was a daring cat burglary, too showy payment some but armed with ample supply chutzpah to see it through.
In kinship, Ocean's Thirteen is like a farewell trek, a lap of honour that sees the boys carry back to the bright lights of Vegas where the series began. It's a fittingly ring-shaped stir since this, according to conductor Steven Soderbergh, determination be the last nevertheless we descry Danny Ocean (Clooney) and his unify of conmen, chancers and heist-masters.
Fans of the series were suitably put out when Soderbergh...
Ocean's Thirteen
Claudia PuigOcean's Thirteen is as frothy and smooth as a chilled margarita on a lustful Vegas unendingly. The corps of vigilantly, idiosyncratic and snappily dressed employment criminals is back, plotting and executing a caper with their trademark blend of buffoonery and refinement. This time the oily sinful guy is played not later than Al Pacino as a megalomaniacal casino owner who cheats Elliott Gould's character out of his land, money and coming profits. Former unfavourable boy Andy Garcia takes an interesting moulder. High-tech gadgetry abounds, as do perilous action sequences and hilarious disguises. As in the aforementioned films, the banter is sardonic and the sets and opus design are handsomely mounted. Though it takes a short while before it...
