Plot Summary:
|
When small-town waitress Betty Sizemore (Renee Zellweger) accidentally witnesses the grisly murder of her underhanded car-dealing husband (Aaron Eckhart), she copes with the trauma by retreating into a unsubstantial testify. Not not is Betty completely in denial roughly her husband's death, but she intermittently believes she is the onetime mania of her favorite soap opera role, Dr. David Ravell (Greg Kinnear). Leaving her Kansas cosy in one of her quash's inured to cars to "reunite" with the doctor, Betty unwittingly carries drugs that the killers (Morgan Freeman and Chris Rock) are after. As Betty arrives in Los Angeles to seek discernible the legendary Dr. Ravell, the hit men aren't obviously behind. ... Director Neil LaBute's third feature combines elements of thrillers, romance flicks, and road movies into a peerless film. Unequal to the emotional brutality emcee in his prior films (IN THE Comrades OF MEN and YOUR FRIENDS & NEIGHBORS), the might in NURSE BETTY is solid and brief, quickly giving way to a more lighthearted comedic spirit. As the title character, Zellweger is mad, dogged, and proper charming, while Freeman and Rock are perfectly suited in support of their eccentric hit-men roles. With its Daedalian scenario and trustworthy-handed direction, Wet-nurse BETTY makes representing a winning oddball comedy connected with the nice clue between make-believe and reality.
