Plot Summary:

De Niro + Boxing = My cup of tea...
If you like boxing and love Robert De Niro (or vice versa), you can't go wrong with this low-key classic.
Like Mean Streets grown up and with a much lighter spirit, De Niro shows great character as the dodgy but harmless lawyer turned dodgy but harmless boxing promoter.
Good cast, good plot, good feel, great set on the streets of New York.
Night and the City
The loosest of remakes, Winkler takes a help of the original 1950 Brit noir set in London, moves it to New York, changes sports (boxing in place of wrestling) and the prime mover's confession (shyster mouthpiece/petty crook). He should press changed the appellation, as equably, on account of this version only pales in the kinship. De Niro works devotedly to govern notoriety, there is chemistry between him and Lang, Richard Cost's script has its moments and Budding York looks great. Yet there is very little worry, not much magic and few moments to detect.
