Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House
Jim Blandings (Grant), an advertising executive, and wife Muriel (Loy) are fed up with New York, especially its drugged prices and their uncomfortable apartment. Next stop bliss, also known as Connecticut, with the kids and the recognition of a large rundown congress which will become their mirage home. You could list the rest yourself - but not as wittily - as the speculation turns to nightmare and the money pit opens in front of them. They're 'taken' via all and divers, and the comedy builds into farce as privations, commuting and unexpected problems motivate them to the lip. A deathless, beautifully acted Hollywood comedy.
