Oh dear
From a boring beginning to a predictable ending this film lacks something, maybe a plot. The love story is totally unbelievable, but the special effects are good, for the eighties. Worth watching only for the 'secret garden'
Good...but not wonderful .
Superior horror satire, set around Farmer Vincent's Motel Hell(o). The good farmer enjoys the rustic life, farming (how did you guess), running his motel (perhaps that relates to the title), raising livestock, and also enjoying a successful smoked meats' business, revolving around the acquisition and cultivation of a rather more intelligent brand of animal.
I was surprised at how good the special effects were, considering the budget could not have been gargantuan, and the film was made in 1980. The acting is also spiffing, especially Farmer Vincent and his rotund sister Ida. I find it appealing in horror films, when less than gorgeous women get lead parts.
On the negative side, it is never 100% clear what certain scenes in the 'garden' actually involve, and...
