Plot Summary:
|
A highly styled 'class' veil which can perchance be seen as a pastiche of all tough movies. Tom Reagan is the laconic anti-hero of this amoral tale which is also, paradoxically, a look at morals within the hooligan underworld of the 1930s. Two oppose gangs strive for button of a municipality where the the fuzz are pawns, and the periodic busts of illicit drinking establishments are no more than a particular for joined gang to get back at the other. "A handsome film about men in hats" was how Joel and Ethan Coen described their third film, this beautifully-crafted 1929-move b set out desperado film that takes noteworthy pains to reawaken the genre. Enormously of double-crosses, dense plotting and razor-acid dialogue ("Nobody knows anybody.
