Millionaire Murder Mystery
I found this an average film for Clint Eastwood as the Director with too much emphasis on the cross dressing character Lady Chablis played by the real Lady Chablis.
Clint's little girl Alison was very good as the eye candy, Mandy Nicholls and of course Kevin Spacey and John Cusack were their usual competant selves as the Millionaire under suspicion of Murder and his journalist Nemesis respectively.
Well shot, well acted, plenty of atmosphere but just lacking that certain something that makes a good film - great.
Worth the money though, glad I hired it!
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
Eastwood, a potent star and the most significant actor-director of the post-war period, brought an even greater depth to his work in the 1990s. He outgrew the violence, homophobia and superficial influences of his erstwhile mentors Siegel and Leone to give us this, his most ambitious modern-day movie to date. It is a leisurely and densely atmospheric version of John Berendt's best-seller set in Savannah, Georgia. A young journalist (Cusack) is drawn into an investigation when a local millionaire (Spacey), is murdered by his boyfriend (Law). The exposure of hot-house happenings, lies and deceit makes for mesmerizing drama.
