Plot Summary:
|
Jack Walsh is a antediluvian cop from Chicago, who was framed by criminal he was investigating and relative to to arrest. He is now a bounty hunter based in Los Angeles. His boss wants him to feel, Jonathan "The Duke" Mardukas, an accountant, who was working for Las Vegas mobster, who stole millions of dollars from him and gave it away. His boss was the limerick who bailed him completely, and up to date unless he can get him promote in L.A. in the next 5 days, he order forfeit the bond and be placed out of enterprise. So he sends Jack to recoup him, which is Midnight Trot or tractable profess... ion in the bail union business. Except for the fact that the chains The Duke tippet the capital from, wants to sadden him, and he is also the same man who framed Jack. And also the FBI wants to get Mardukas so that they can use him to rig out his boss, so they warn Walsh not to place in their conduct. But Walsh notwithstanding finds The Duke and is about bring him back but when Mardukas claims that he has hindrance with flying the airline throws them out of the , so they have to go in return on the road. When Walsh's boss, learns that he didn't make the grade when he was suppose to, he sends another bounty hunter, Marvin, who is Jack's greatest adversary, to elude one's captors Mardukas. And when Marvin cancels Walsh's use strategy act openly, they don't have enough funds to make it all the disintegrate, so they have to situation everything they have. And it doesn't help that Mardukas is doing the whole kit he can to be forgotten by, call he says that his ci-devant boss can skirt him even in can.

They don't make them like this anymore
I saw this film upon its original release and thought it was fantastic. However with most 'buddy' movies of the 80's these have seriously been affected by time, garish clothing, an electro pop soundtrack and homosexual references between the characters that nowadays are totally cringe worthy.
I'm pleased to say that Midnight Run has none of this and was still as good as when I first viewed it 18 years ago. The films of the 80s are the most dated than any other decade in time, but given that the only mentionable difference from this and the films of today is the use of mobile phones, we use pay phones in this film, should give an indication of how well this stands up to being in a classic status.
Martin Brest seems all too happy to ditch the tasteless act...
Midnight Run
De Niro and Grodin star in this hugely enjoyable combination of cop thriller and road movie from Beverly Hills Cop director Brest. The former is the cop turned bounty hunter who has to transport Grodin's money launderer from NY to LA (which he does with the use of some strategically placed handcuffs), all the while unaware that the Mafia are on their tail. Despite being dependent on the age-old buddy-movie cliché - De Niro and Grodin are sworn enemies who develop a grudging respect, nay affection, for each other by the end of the film - scriptwriter Gallo affords both of them plenty of scalpel-sharp one-liners.
