Midnight Express
Despite its dubious racist overtones, this is a powerful account of the experiences of Billy Hayes, unlucky enough to be caught smuggling hash in Turkey

When his fat...
Must See Movie
More than 25 years on this movie has lost little of its raw power.
It's no wonder the Turkish authorities were in quite a lather about 'Midnight Express' because it was based on a true story and certainly did nothing for Turkey's tourist trade in the years that followed the movie's release.
Brad Davis (whatever happened to him?)is very convincing as the young American who suffers the brutalising experience of life in a Turkish jail, although I thought John Hurt just about stole the acting honours.
