Plot Summary:
|
A recently homeless and jobless loser, a chief citizen estranged from her people, a genesis of one dealing with her husband's brain damage, a gas station P stuck in a job he hates, and a maiden priest sense of touch beside the point deal sadness and loneliness on Christmas Eve. As they cross paths and common sense random and minor acts of benevolence, their lives are changed forever.

A sensitively handled war story from New York born actor turned writer-director Keith Gordon, who showed much promise with this, his second movie (after 1988's The Chocolate War).
Hawke plays Will Knott, the leader of six young soldiers in the Army Intelligence Divsion who, posted in the French countryside during Christmas 1944, have an extraordinary encounter with a German squad that's fed up with fighting. Together they hatch a plan to get themselves out of the sticky situation alive and with dignity.
