Plot Summary:
|
A divorced isolated natural finds a bottle on the shore whilst short jogging. Much infatuated with the sentiments of the message inside she uses the resources of the Chicago tabloid she works for to track down the sender. When she meets him an liking quickly forms between them, and his testy padre is also infatuated with her. But it is self-evident something in the past is casting a miserable shadow.

I've never watched this film, as it's not really my cup of tea. I would just like to ask Denise#33 if giving away the ending to a film is a review technique that I'm not familiar with? I think it's the way forward, instead of spending 2 hours watching an enjoyable film I can just read your review!

There was a time when Costner could do no wrong, then he went arse over ego and found himself floundering, out of his depth in the grossly ill-conceived Waterworld. In an effort to refloat his career he headed for the shallower waters of slight romantic comedies such as Tin Cup and this affable effort in which he plays a lonely boat builder who casts his love letters into the sea. Fortunately for him they're discovered by a soft-centred female reporter, who initially scents a good story, then succumbs to his winsome charms. A sticky-sweet confection sharpened by Newman's cameo as Costner's irascible dad.
