The title in keeping is virtually non-existent in Robert Louis Stevenson's epitome horror, 'The Uncanny Instance Of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde', but retelling the archetypal gossip from the perspective of the housemaid gives an excellent fashionable batty to a spurt-spent tall tale.
Mary Reilly (Roberts) is the servant of Dr Jekyll (Malkovich), a kindly but obsessive professor. The match up begin to fall in beau, but being a typically repressed gent the doctor is unable to act upon his feelings. Jekyll's fashionable 'assistant', the harsh and dangerous Mr Hyde, has no such problems, and against her instincts, Reilly finds herself drawn to this brunette and sexually menacing man.
